Social Psychology + Research

A nationally recognized scholar

Before becoming a full-time voice artist, I took a brief detour earn a master’s degree in social psychology, with a focus on emotions, attitudes, and prejudice.

Below, learn more about my experience as a real-life nationally recognized scholar, and how I can provide an expert voice for your next e-learning project.

Psychology education and training

My psychology education and training began at Ohio State University, where I earned a B.S. in psychology and a minor in statistics (in addition to the B.A. in music/voice that prepped me for voiceover work). I worked as a research assistant for some famous social psychologists including Richard Petty, Marilynn Brewer, and Timothy Brock—if you ever took Intro Psych, then you probably learned these names!

Then, I continued my training at graduate school. I attended University of California Santa Barbara, where I earned a master’s degree in social psychology.

Researcher and educator

During my professional psychology training, I was a researcher and educator. I taught university classes including Introductory Psychology, Social Psychology, Statistics, and Advanced Research Methods, and my research was published in Basic and Applied Social Psychology and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. For details about my publications, scroll below!

Awards and national honors

As an undergrad, I won a variety of research grants, and I won 3rd place in the university-wide Denman Undergraduate Research Forum.

During graduate school, my research won prestigious national honors from organizations including The National Science Foundation, The Ford Foundation, and The Society for Personality and Social Psychology.

Social Psychology Research Publications

During my stint as a social psychologist, I published peer-reviewed empirical research. My social psychology research publications made novel contributions to the field in areas including prejudice and emotions.

Emotions and prejudice

In graduate school, my primary research focus was how specific emotions about social groups lead to prejudice. My collaborators and I published the article “Discrete Emotions Elucidate the Effects of Crossed-Categorization on Prejudice” in Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.

Film and music

During undergrad at The Ohio State University, I earned dual degrees in music and psychology, with a minor in statistics. My music honors thesis examined how film music influences attitudes related to the story. My work is published in the article “Effects of Film Music on Psychological Transportation and Narrative Persuasion” in the journal Basic and Applied Social Psychology.

Consumer traits and preferences

My undergraduate honors thesis in psychology looked at consumer preferences for rare products. To learn more about this work, read my paper called “The Desire for Unique Consumer Products: A Moderator of the Scarcity Polarization Phenomenon?”

Psychologist for Employee Training

If you need a social psychologist for employee training narration, I can provide an expert voice and top quality audio. My academic background makes me an authentic authority for your e-learning project in a variety of psychology topics.

Implicit bias

During one of my first research assistantships in college, I collected data for a collaboration between Harvard University and Ohio State University researchers who studied implicit bias and perceptions of racial disparity. So, I can offer your organization an educated voice explaining how to overcome implicit bias when hiring and working with coworkers.

Intergroup relationships

We all belong to multiple, simultaneously perceived social groups based on qualities like our gender, occupation, race, political perspective, or body weight, etc.) Many groups are targets of stigma and prejudice. In graduate school, my research focus was intergroup relationships, or how people belonging to different social groups interact. So, if you need to educate your workforce on these issues, I can offer a credible, sensitive voice.
